The shortest summer I can ever remember is about to end. It lasted almost three weeks this year, or 19 days for those of you scoring at home.
Those 19 days included the time between the weather getting warm in Michigan during the late spring and the decision to move to Maryland just after the start of the sunny season. We went to a Tiger game. They won. We went to a Stanley Cup Finals game, too. The Red Wings won that game, 5-0. We didn't make it to Cedar Point and we never went camping. We hoped to squeeze in an Amtrak to Chicago for a Cubs' game. That didn't happen, either.
What did happen after summer ended in late June was a five-person, four-state move that included a child custody court case and selling two homes in Michigan to buy one in Maryland. In seven weeks. Oh yes, we both embarked on new work paths, too. It's been the longest summer I can ever remember and it never even happened!
Regardless, we came through it OK, a few nicks and scratches aside, we've put our flags into the ground in Annapolis. We're thrilled to have relocated to one of the country's natural jewels, the Chesapeake Bay. And yes, Governor Granholm, five years later, we've officially blown away...into Maryland. The good people of Michigan deserve better leadership than what they're getting, if I may say so myself. To us staying only emboldened the problematic leadership, rewarding poor stewardship with good tax dollars. Naturally I have many remaining business enterprises in Michigan and metro Detroit. I'm not turning my back on any of them or the good people they represent, just relocating to a more stable situation, economically speaking.
So keep in touch. From time to time I'll be around and I'll keep a trained eye on the prep, collegiate and pro sports scene in the state of Michigan and the 313, 248 and 586.

Good luck in your new adventure on the East Coast. Keep in touch and I hope all is well with the fam!
